Scott McAleer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 3, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott Douglas McAleer, 37, of Monroe, Louisiana, formerly of Somers Point, New Jersey. Scott passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025. He was born on October 9, 1987. Scott was raised in Somers Point, NJ, where he graduated from Mainland Regional High School. He spent his final days surrounded by loved ones in Monroe, Louisiana, a place where he found a second home. Scott is survived by his beloved sisters, Tabatha Spohn - Mitcham (Jake), Amanda McAleer, and Illana Piehs; brother, Travis McAleer; and stepsisters, Samantha Kinney and Savannah Piehs. His memory will be cherished by his nieces and nephews, Jaidyn Mitcham, Kieara Mitcham, Jakob Simnor, John Mitcham Jr., Jaxson Bouts, Amari Gunter, and Koda Kinney and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. Scott was preceded in death by his father, William McAleer, his stepmother, Karen Piehs, and his beloved dogs, Zuma and Bumble, who were his constant companions. Known for his twisted sense of humor and quirky personality, Scott left a memorable mark on those who knew him. His interests ranged from electronics and video games to metal music. Scott had a unique view on life, always quick with a joke, and forever the modern-day Robin Hood, known to take from the rich and give to the poor. He was a man who found joy in the simple things-take-out food, Maine Coon cats, and the occasional "Netflix and chill" session. Scott's ability to bring laughter into any room will be deeply missed, as will his determination! To always get the last word with his little sister and a victory he famously claimed when he finally beat his older sister at something in life. A celebration of Scott's life will be held in Monroe, Louisiana, and Pittsburgh, PA, at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember him. May Scott's spirit live on in the hearts of those who loved him!
