Scott Anthony McCallum Sr., affectionately known as "Scotty" and by his stage name "Rufdraf," was born on November 13, 1978, in
Toledo, Ohio, and passed away on August 11, 2025, in Glen Burnie, Maryland, at the age of 46.
Scotty was the beloved son of Karen McCallum and the late George McCallum, and the youngest of ten children - the "baby" of the family. Growing up in Toledo's tight-knit "Stickney" neighborhood, he was known for his big smile, goofy spirit, and ability to make everyone laugh. He attended Bibleway Christian Academy from kindergarten through eighth grade, where he was both the class clown and a top student, loved by classmates and teachers alike.
A proud graduate of Calvin M. Woodward High School, Scotty was a true standout - a star point guard on the basketball team, MVP running back in football, All-City track athlete, and a vibrant member of the Drama Club and Jefferson Madison Club. His leadership, energy, and commitment to excellence followed him in every stage of life.
He went on to earn college credits at both the University of Toledo and Davis College, and later built a strong and successful professional career. He worked for Home Depot for six years before moving to Best Buy, where he quickly advanced to become the Department Manager of the Mobile Phone Division. He later joined Behr Paint, which brought him to Baltimore, Maryland, and eventually joined PJ FitzPatrick as a Sales Design Consultant - earning numerous "Sales Consultant of the Month" awards. He wasn't just a high achiever - Scotty coached, mentored, and uplifted his colleagues, always helping others to grow and succeed.
Above all, Scotty was a devoted family man. He was proud to welcome his first son, Scott McCallum Jr., whose mother is Kesha Machaterre. Later, he met and married the love of his life, Rochell Frederick McCallum, and from their union, they were blessed with three more sons: Xavier, Jordan, and Braylon McCallum.
Scotty loved his children deeply - he poured everything he had into them. He never missed a school play, concert, academic induction, sports event, or graduation. He took immense pride in being present, supportive, and a consistent provider.
His love and admiration for his wife, Rochell, was undeniable and unwavering. He supported her in all of her endeavors and celebrated her dreams as his own. Their love was pure, honest, and deeply rooted in mutual respect and care. Rochell loved Scotty immensely - she stood by his side and cared for him with grace and compassion until his final breath. The bond they shared was rare, beautiful, and inspiring.
Scotty had a larger-than-life personality and a heart to match. He loved to travel at a moment's notice, met no strangers, and lit up every room he entered. He was loyal to his family, proud of his roots, and deeply connected to his community. He carried a lifelong passion for music - known to many as "Rufdraf" - channeling his talent into lyrics that reflected his truth. And as a devoted sports fan, he stood proudly with the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, and his beloved Michigan Wolverines - Go Blue!
Scott was preceded in death by his father, George McCallum, and his brother, Kimberly McCallum. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Rochell McCallum; his sons - Scott McCallum Jr., Xavier McCallum, Jordan McCallum, and Braylon McCallum; his mother, Karen McCallum; and his siblings: Andre (Catrina) McCallum, Diana Allen, John McCallum, Daphne McCallum, Giaschell (Cleveland) McBee, Marlon McCallum, Jermaine (LaDeana) McCallum, Jason (Ashley) McCallum and Hannah Johnson. He is also remembered and loved by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, lifelong friends, colleagues, and neighbors who will forever feel the impact of his life.
Scotty will be remembered for his unmatched energy, his generous heart, and his unshakable love for those around him. He will be missed more than words can ever express - but his light lives on in every soul he touched, every memory shared, and every beat of the music he left behind. Forever in our hearts!
