Scott Alan Miller passed away on December 14, 2025, at the age of 61. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend whose life was defined by love, loyalty, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to family.
Scott married the love of his life, Dawn, on September 8, 1984. Together they built a life rooted in deep devotion, shared values, and a steadfast belief in putting family first. Their marriage was a true partnership and the foundation of everything Scott cherished most.
Scott graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1982 and later attended the University of Central Arkansas, where he was a member of the Pike Fraternity. During his college years, he formed lifelong friendships and remained close with many of those friends throughout the years.
A proud grandfather, Scott treasured every moment with his grandchildren. He was known for his unwavering support, attending school activities, ball games, and family trips to the beach, often traveling great distances just to be present. His grandchildren were his joy, and time spent with them was among his greatest happiness.
If he wasn’t working alongside his brothers at the family business, Scott could often be found traveling to spend time with his children and grandchildren, hunting, or relaxing on the back porch while watching sports. He embraced life’s simple pleasures and valued time spent with those he loved most.
Scott’s professional accomplishments were significant. In 1987, he helped found NIBC alongside his father, Reed, and brothers Bob; the company was incorporated in 1989. Scott’s responsibilities included commissions and financial management, and he worked at NIBC until 2005, when his father retired. Choosing a new direction, Scott moved into home and auto insurance and small commercial accounts, building a thriving business and lasting relationships with many clients who remain connected today. After the agency sold, Scott returned to NIBC in June 2024, bringing his experience, dedication, and leadership back to the company he helped grow. Even after being diagnosed with cancer in October 2024, Scott continued working as long as he was able, exemplifying his steadfast commitment, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
From 1992 to 2002, Scott dedicated countless hours to coaching baseball, football, and basketball teams for his sons, Hayden and Hunter. His love for coaching began with his first T-ball team, Johnny Goff Builders, which finished an impressive 24-0-1. Coaching allowed Scott to mentor young athletes while sharing his love of sports and family.
Scott was also a lifelong friend, a trusted business associate, and a respected member of his community. He never met a stranger, and once Scott called you a friend, you had a friend for life. He enjoyed sports throughout his life, playing running back and wingback in high school football and catcher in baseball, demonstrating the same toughness, determination, and loyalty that defined his character.
Scott battled stage 4 esophageal cancer for 14 months with hope, strength, and poise. He never wanted pity and was an absolute warrior. The family is deeply thankful for the compassionate care provided by the doctors and nurses at CARTI, MD Anderson, Vanderbilt Medical Center, and St. Vincent. We also want to thank Dr. Whit Knapple who found the cancer and Dr. Gus Fernandez who answered numerous question from Scott and our family.
Above all else, Scott was proud of his family. He found his greatest joy in being a husband, father, and grandfather, and his love for them was evident in everything he did.
Scott Alan Miller will be remembered for his generous heart, strong work ethic, and the way he made others feel valued and supported. His legacy lives on through the family, friends, and community who loved him and will carry his memory forward always.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn; his children, Kiley Williams (Cornelius), Hayden Miller (Kalyn), and Hunter Miller (Megan); his grandchildren, Palmer and Ace Miller; Ellis, Maverick, and Wynn Williams; and Charley and Parker Miller; his brothers, Bob Miller (Nancy), David Miller (Jenny), John Miller (Kari), Steve Miller (Ramona), and Brad Miller; his sisters, Paige Barker (Kyle), Kim Tubes; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reed and Kasey Miller.
Visitation begins at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral at 12:00 PM, Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Sylvan Hills Church of Christ. Interment will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
