Scott Patterson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service - Greeneville on Mar. 7, 2026.
Wesley Scott Patterson, born May 14, 1965, passed away surrounded by his family at Johnson City Medical Center on Sunday, March 1, 2026, after a prolonged battle with illness. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in Greeneville, Scott lived life on his own terms and loved his family and friends deeply. He graduated from Greeneville High School in 1983 and later attended East Tennessee State University and the University of South Carolina, working as a registered nurse and later a nurse anesthetist before leaving the medical field. An avid outdoorsman, Scott always kept a rod and reel in his truck and took any opportunity he could to cast a line, camp in the mountains, or walk the fields along the Nolichucky in search of arrowheads and artifacts, especially with his son.

He is survived by his son: Matthew (Kailey) Patterson; grandchildren: William Thomas and Evelyn Elizabeth Patterson; brothers: Dr. Mark (Mary) Patterson and Mike Patterson; nieces: Lindsey (Terrence) Reed and Courtney (Zac) Randolph; and special friends: Cliff Garren and Jeff Wilson.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Dr. David Oscar Patterson and Evelyn McCoy Patterson; son: John-Wesley McCoy Patterson; and grandson: Wesley Theodore Patterson.

The joy and love he brought to his family and friends will be sorely missed until we are reunited in the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

"Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him." – James 1:12

There will be a private graveside service, and memorial arrangements will be announced to family and friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Niswonger Children's Hospital (https://www.balladhealth.org/foundation/donate-online) or the Greene County Humane Society (https://www.gchumanesociety.com/pages/donate). The family also asks that you spend time with the ones you love and find time to go fishing in honor of Scott.
