Scott W. Pavlick

Scott Pavlick, 47, of Vestal, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Scott is survived by his parents, Sharon and William Pavlick; his brother, Todd Pavlick (Kelly); his sister, Nicky Moffitt (Chad); his father-in-law, Ola Tranvaag; his sisters-in-law, Heidi Foster (Michael Klockowski) and Chanalle Pecka (Todd); his niece and goddaughter, Hannah; and his nephews, Cameron, Cole, Max, and Rye. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Debbie Tranvaag.
Scott was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jodi Pavlick, and their 7-year-old son, Reagan, who was the center of his world and his greatest joy. Scott was a steady, loving presence in their home, always putting his family first. He also leaves behind his loyal dog, Scout, who was always by his side.
Born on July 5, 1977, at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, Scott graduated from Chenango Forks High School in 1995 and went on to attend Ithaca College, where he graduated in 1999. He was a standout on the men's swim team, a two-time All American who, in 1997, broke the college's 100 yard backstroke record. It was a testament to his determination, discipline, and natural ability.
Scott began his career with the Binghamton Fire Department on April 1, 2008. He served the city with honor and distinction for over 17 years and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on March 1, 2023. He was most recently assigned to Engine 1, Group D. Over the course of his career, Scott earned multiple unit citations and commendations for bravery. He received a Fire Rescue Award in 2009 for saving a man from a structure fire and played a critical role in the 2024 river rescue at Rock Bottom Dam, where he and his crew pulled an unresponsive victim to safety and successfully revived him with CPR.
Scott's discipline and spirit extended beyond the firehouse. He completed the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC, the Big Sur Marathon in California, and the Mount Desert Island Marathon in Bar Harbor, Maine-where he proposed to Jodi at the finish line.
Those who knew Scott best will remember much more than his accomplishments. He had a good sense of humor and a sharp wit he inherited from his father, along with a calm presence in every situation. He had a rare gift for easing the weight others carried just by being near. Scott cherished time with his family above anything else. Whether going out to dinner, attending events, or simply being together, he embraced every moment. He had a way of making life look easy. He made people feel safe and understood. And wherever he went, he left things better than he found them.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1049 Chenango Street, Hillcrest, Wednesday June 11, 2025 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday June 10, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, and to support Scott's wife and son, a Syracuse Fire Department Credit Union account has been set up for donations in Scott's name. Contributions can be sent by check to the credit union, and an online donation link will be available in the coming days.
