Born at St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee, Scott was the first of three sons to Dennis and Sue. He was baptized and attended Christ Lutheran Grade School before graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran High School. A talented wrestler - and, somewhat surprisingly to those who knew him best, prom king - Scott's high school years were filled with both triumphs and trials. The summer before his senior year, his father Dennis unexpectedly passed away, making for a difficult and formative time.
It was around then that Scott enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he created some of the proudest memories of his young life. The pride he felt in serving never left him; whenever he crossed paths with a fellow Marine, conversations and camaraderie flowed easily.
After his service, Scott earned a degree in Architectural Technology from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. During this time, he became a devoted father with the arrival of his first son, Parker. As a single dad living back in Milwaukee, Scott met Laura, who would later become his wife. After managing a long-distance relationship, the two were married in August 2011 at a beautiful ceremony in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Together they built a home and life in De Pere, raising two more beloved sons, Tyler and Charles.
Scott cherished summers at the Rutlin family's lake home in Neshkoro. He developed a love of fishing there, a passion first sparked just down the road on Otter Lane, where Ray Braun introduced him to the joys of open water and ice fishing. Many late nights were spent walking the tip-up track, hoping for the next big catch. In later years, Scott could often be found out on Silver Springs Lake, in Bass Bay, green kayak floating, a podcast in his ear, shades on, a Brewers cap on his head, a fishing pole in one hand and a summer shandy in the other.
True to his Wisconsin roots, Scott was a loyal fan of the Brewers, Bucks, and Packers. He loved watching, listening to, and attending games - but even more, he loved coaching and cheering for his own sons in their sports. Music was another passion he shared, especially with Parker. Concerts, comedy shows, Brewer games, WiffleManias, or simply hanging out with family - Scott found joy in being together.
For nearly 16 years, Scott worked with Georgia-Pacific in structural design and project management, contributing proudly to Wisconsin's paper industry. He took a lot of pride in his work, much like his father had before him.
Scott is survived by his wife, Laura (Rutlin), and his sons, Parker, Tyler, and Charles. He is also survived by his brothers Todd Rauch, Kyle (Rachel) Rauch, his sister from another mister, along with Wesley, Magnolia, Grant and Corrina, and his dedicated stepfather Dan Reilly. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Jenny (Joe) Mallinger and their four children, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Dennis and Suzette, as well as his revered father-in-law Melvin (Mel) Rutlin.
We will carry Scott's memory with us always - in the milestones of his boys, in every family gathering, and in the countless small moments that made him who he was. We'll always save a seat for Scottie.
To all the other important people in Scott's life-the Braun family, the Mallingers, his Marine Corps brothers, JD, Melsheimer, his wiffleball teammates, and so many others-please know that he truly loved you all.
P.S. Scottie, give Mom and Dad a big hug for me when you see them.
Love always,
Kyle
