Scott Rettey was born on August 28, 1954, to Ernest and Dorothy Rettey in Huntington Beach, CA. He spent much of his childhood moving between California, Arizona, and North Dakota. His family settled in Minnesota. He graduated from Apollo High School and pursued his passion for football and wrestling at Saint Cloud State University. He obtained his Masters in teaching in industrial technology and began his first teaching job in Spencer, IA. He planned to be in Spencer for only a short stay, but met the love of his life, Kathy. Scott went on to coach for over 30 years. His passion for teaching and coaching touched many students and fellow teachers and coaches lives. He had a keen memory and loved to tell stories from his “glory days;” many of which had some embellishments to gain a laugh or reaction from those listening. His free time was spent attending his kids’ activities, helping on the farm, and hunting and fishing with his brothers. His pride and joy were his three children. He was a great father who loved his kids fiercely and always had a dad joke or pun ready. His tool bag was a staple for all the projects his kids had ready for him at their homes.       On March 5, 2024, Scott departed this earthly world after a long battle with cancer. His strength and resilience during his treatments were admired by all who encountered him. His strong faith has ensured his admittance into heaven. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Dorothy Rettey and mother-in-law Lois Sikora.      He is survived by his wife Kathy; his children: Katie, Suzanne (Jonathan), and Charlie (Erica); his siblings Kurt, Mark, David (Linda), Diane (Brian), and Renee (Corey).
