Scott Charles Richmond, 54, of Hammondsport, NY entered heaven's gates on Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was originally from Phoenix, NY.
Scott was a son, a brother, an uncle, a father, a grandfather, and the most incredible, devoted, selfless, and loving husband a woman could ask for. His support of always putting his wife first was never a question.
Scott had a passion for life and wore his enormous sentimental heart on his sleeve for all of those in his circle. He was always the first to lend a helping hand – friend, family, or stranger. He cared for people deeply.
Years past he worked as a parts manager and MAC Tool distributor. He took pride in sharing his stories about knowing who had what to sell and what others were looking for from county to county. MAC Tool hosted a conference and banquet in Georgia, he proudly took 5-year-old Emily as his date. To watch him talk about her experience with him would melt a stone cold heart.
Scott loved his daughters so endlessly to the moon and back. He would volunteer at his daughters' dances, school concerts, and trips to Darian Lake. He would make sure the girls received bouquet of flowers at school after their concerts. He loved seeing smiles on their faces from ear to ear watching them show off their flowers that THEIR DADDY gave them. It was paramount to him that he always made sure his little ladies knew how much they were loved and how special they were to him. He loved to reminisce about camping, snowmobiling and ATV'ing with the girls. Ashley was his racetrack and hunting buddy. Although she would fall asleep on his shoulder once in the blind, he just loved her in the woods with him experiencing the beauty and solace of nature. He was equally proud of both Emily and her career and Ashley as a doting mother.
Scott had his own limited super modified race car, racing at Oswego Speedway with his brother Dennis and father as pit crew. He would tell endless stories of the joy and "passionate" moments he experienced during this time. He was so proud of having the best motor because his brother Dennis was the best mechanic out there.
He met his soulmate, Brigitte Richmond, in the summer of 2007. They traveled, constantly laughed, and made adventures of their own wherever they were.
Scott was a traditionalist – especially holidays. His favorite was Thanksgiving, loved making pumpkin pies from his own home-grown pumpkins and decorating Christmas cookies.
Scott and Brigitte made a paradise sanctuary of their home in Hammondsport. His vision of landscape was created to provide a sanctuary not only for him but for the wildlife that he loved.
Scott's methodical and creative talents enhanced his success for his passion of deer hunting. He spent endless hours creating a perfect park setting like an artist to canvas in the back 40.
He was an avid hunter, sportsman, and trapper. His high ethics and morales were above and beyond today's fashion. He held people accountable for their actions and expected the same from those around him.
He loved his shop – welding, fabricating, and woodworking, as well as gardening and canning. He was truly a jack of all trades.
He was relentlessly meticulous in cleaning and polishing his bike before every ride. He would always say "Brig, why ride if you can't look good?" Scott's excitement for summer was planning adventures with his dear best friend, James Blainey. They rode the Adirondack Park, all New England; savoring lobsters in Bar Harbor, Maine to sipping moonshine in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Scott would always say "I'm the beagle chasing the rabbit" – James being the rabbit. When James heard the crack of his distinct exhaust, he knew Scott had his back. Scott recently completed a 2,100-mile ride with Brigitte and James. The laughs, jokes, stories, flood rains, and badgering were endless. These incredible memories will stay with us always.
Johnny Supple, another dear friend. Scott so enjoyed the nature photos Johnny would share from his "nature office" in Hawaii and respected his amazing career. He would tell stories of as kids how he and Johhny would play military and camp in the gravel bed behind their house. Both James and Johnny were such true brothers to Scott.
His beloved Molly was his faithful companion that would patrol the perimeter of the property during her daily UTV ride. She was always beside him, even when he was working in his shop with pillows placed at each of his workstations for her. His newfound love for a stray cat he named Norman Thomas was shear entertaining to watch.
Scott had an extreme respect and devotion for our Veterans and the Military and lamented not being able to participate due to a medical condition. He wanted to be Marine.
Scott is survived by his wife, Brigitte. They had 17 incredible years together.
He is also survived by his daughters, Emily Wilburn (Josh), Ashley Richmond, his mother, Kathleen Greco (Fred), his father, John, his brothers, Dennis and John, and grandson Josh who he so loved and craved the chance to be part of his life, teach him the same love and respect of the outdoors as his Grandpa Scott.
Brigitte and Scott met online. Brigitte's basset, Sarah, actually pawed at Scott's picture – with a dead deer in his lap! When Scott told his father Brigitte was an engineer his father said "Just be careful. You know how engineers are – it looks good on paper but hardly ever works in the field."
Scott, my love, I'll miss dancing with you in your shop and kitchen, your road condition reports with upcoming detours on Friday nights as I make my way home, emails of upcoming quilt shows, morning, noon, and 5 hour evening phone calls watching TV on the line together as I was working a world away from you – still trying to make what's on paper work out in the field. Thank God for free phone service. Always in my heart
