Scott Paul Scheffelmear, proud father and grandfather, 54, of Whitewater, Montana, was tragically and unexpectedly lost on January 24th, 2025 in Malta, MT.
Scott's unexpected passing comes as a shock to his family, friends, and loved ones, who are still reeling at the loss. He lived an eventful life and still had so much ahead of him. He was taken far too soon and had many more stories to tell.
He was born in Havre, MT on July 19th, 1970 to Leo and Carol 'Kitty' Scheffelmear, and was the youngest of 8 children. Scott was educated at Malta High School before deciding to pursue his career as a general contractor early alongside his brother Bill in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Eventually moving back to Malta where he met the woman who would stay with him the rest of his life, Connie Pewitt. They had a bond that would stay unbroken even as they moved many places. They would end up back in Wisconsin where they had their first child, Larimie, before coming back to Malta to raise her around more family and a smaller town life. After some time they had Cody, Kendall, and Tyler (Baby Ty) to complete the family.
Scott was a devoted and loving father to his four children, who dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them. Among his many pieces of advice, the most important one was to always stay connected with family. In the last two years, he enjoyed becoming a grandfather to Colson and Lorraine and watching them grow. Whether it was watching basketball games, spending holidays together, or daily Facetime calls.
He took great pride in being a parent, especially watching his children play sports, sharing music with them, and passing on his contractor skills. He was proud to see Larimie become a mother, Cody developing his career, Kendall going on to college, and Tyler working alongside him.
In his free time, he enjoyed reading Louie L'Amour books over and over, riding in the mountains of Zortman, and taking people for a drive around town to show what jobs he had done which he took great pride in.
Scott was preceded in death by his father Leo Scheffelmear, mother Carol (Young) Scheffelmear, sister Sherry Morin, and brother Clay Scheffelmear.
He is survived by his wife Connie Pewitt of Whitewater, MT, children Larimie (Chance) Escott of Faith, SD, Cody Scheffelmear of Malta, MT, Kendall and Tyler Scheffelmear of Whitewater, MT. Siblings; Brian Scheffelmear, Bill (Donna) Scheffelmear, Terri (Ed) Bibeau, Donna (Dan) Duncan all of Malta, MT and Mike (Anita) Scheffelmear of Lewistown, MT. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
Viewing is Friday, January 31st from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., and the funeral service is February 1st at 1:00 P.M. both at Wilderness Funeral Home in Malta, MT. Burial will be for immediate family only following the funeral service. Reception to be held at the V.F.W. at 4:00 P.M. for anyone and everyone to come and share Scott's stories.
