Obituary of Scott J. Shinske

Scott J. Shinske, a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on September 27, 2025, at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston at the age of 70.

Born on June 24, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Bernard Shinske and Estelle (Rubinstein) Shinske, Scott was raised in Brooklyn before moving to New Jersey in 1988. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from The New School for Social Research in Greenwich Village.

After many years in Purchasing, Scott went on to enjoy a second 15+-year career as a pharmacy technician at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, where he was cherished by his coworkers, who fondly described him as the life of the party. His warm personality, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Although non-practicing, Scott remained connected to his Jewish heritage. Beyond work, he had many passions-building birdhouses out of old license plates, building model airplanes or ships and painting. He was a fun-only golfer, a lover of travel, and found peace both in exploring national parks and sitting by the ocean.

Above all, Scott adored his family. He was a loving and faithful husband to his wife, Stacey, and a proud and devoted father to his son, Zachary. His family was the center of his world, and his love for them will be remembered always.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Stacey Shinske; his cherished son, Zachary Shinske (Jerick); his brothers, Ira Shinske (Randi), and Barry Shinske (Melissa); his aunt, Barbara Green (Jack); his nephews, Ethan Shinske, Matthew Shinske (Madison), Cody & Carson; his nieces, Alanna Satnick (Drew), and Hannah Shinske; his sister-in-law, Janice McHugh; along with many dear friends and former colleagues.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Stephen McHugh.

Scott will be remembered for his humor, warmth, generosity, and devotion to his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

A memorial visitation will be held for Scott on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., with a memorial service celebrated at 1:45 p.m., at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, New Jersey.
