Scott Shoham Obituary

Scott Shoham, age 66, died peacefully on Friday, July 1, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford, CT to Alvin & Joy Shoham, Scott grew up visiting his grandparents on their farm in Windsor, CT and spoke fondly of his times on Hilltop Circle as well as his childhood in Bloomfield, CT. As a lifetime employee and then CEO of his family's business, Scott poured his heart and soul into Alvin & Company for over 40 years. He took great pride in his work and cherished his time spent building the business. His friends and family lovingly referred to Alvin & Company as his first child. Scott is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ronit Shoham, his children and their partners, Maya Shoham, Liz Marquez, Koreen Shoham, Colby MacDonald, and Ben Shoham and his grandson, Aiden Shoham-Marquez. Scott is also survived by his sister Lynn Horn and brother Mark Shoham. Scott was a loving husband, father and "Poppy". He adored his children and grandchild, always eager to support and cheer them on through all of life's adventures. He loved sitting in his car with Aiden while Aiden pushed every button, spending long days at the pool with his wife and family and playing practical jokes. Funeral services will take place at Beth-El Synagogue (2626 Albany Ave, West Hartford, CT 06117) in West Hartford, CT on Monday, July 4th at 10 a.m. Burial services will take place immediately following the service and the family will receive guests during a celebration of life lunch reception at Beth-El Synagogue following the burial. Shiva will be observed Monday & Tuesday from 4-8 PM with a service at 7 PM at their home in West Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Scott Shoham to Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford (26 Buena Vista Rd, West Hartford, CT 06107).

I have fond memories of the beautiful Shoham family. My parents (Neale and Barbara Rosenthal were very close to Alvin and Joy) we once went on vacation together to Lake George. I was in Marks class in Beth Shalom and BhS . Scott was a true mensch. I´m sure he is sorely missed...

One year ago, you left thus realm. I miss a long-time friend, one I have known since Jr High...Our lives took shape down different paths. But over the years, esp. nearing a High School reunion, he would touch base. Knowing I was single, he would call and check in with me from, time to time. We talked about everything except politics. Once a year we would meet for lunch in Sturbridge...and review our year.. what transpired, and what might lie ahead. I knew him to be kind, caring, hard working, ambitious, sociable, and he liked to tease...He was devoted to his wife and family, and adored his children & grandchild. And he was a really good soccer player in his high school years. He was robbed of many years of enjoying a retirement that he worked so hard to attain. The lesson his life delivers to us all is that we must, when opportunity arises, we must "pick the flowers all along the way", for we are not guaranteed, anything- we may not even be given the opportunity to grow old. Hope you are at rest Scott, and connected to all those who went before you and that you are surrounded by luxurious gardens, and spectacular scenery and at that you are at peace.

Ronit and family I was sorry that I was not able to attend Scott funeral. We had a wedding the day before and were
heading to the Jersey shore and spend time with my uncle.
Strange how this legacy showed uo on my email.
That day I was in Thai Palace and saw a couple sitting in the booth. That booth Scott ate and I sat down and watch him eat. We talked about pretty much what we
talked about and remembering the past.
Today I'm going back there on business but I have stared at that booth many times and thought about
our conversation.
Sorry for your loss.

Ronit and Family,
We just found out about Scott. Words do not fully express our sadness for your loss. if we had known we would have been at the funeral and Shiva.
Scott was a wonderful man who was so proud of his family and loved them dearly. He was always happy and gregarious when I would see him and was always interested in our family as well. We know he will be missed by many beyond his family.
may your wonderful memories help sustain you during this very difficult time.

To Ronit and all of the Shoham family... I am still in shock and so deeply struck but this news...Most of all, I feel so incredibly sad and sorry for all of you. I am a long time from from Bloomfield Jr High & Watkinson. In recent yrs. The past 10 or so, Scott & I would call each other to check in every so often. We were planning to meet in Sturbridge for lunch this again this summer as we had not seen each other for a few years. What I recall most vividly is how he would relay latest accomplishments or updates on each of you. He loved you all so deeply, was so proud of each of you and so glad he could provide opportunities for you and help each of you fulfill your dreams. I hope all your cherished memories of vacations and holidays shared all together will comfort you in the months and years to come.. you carry him your hearts to keep his spirit alive. I will miss him dearly esp. our heartwarming conversations...Hope you are at peace my friend..

We are deeply saddened to hear of Scott's passing and send our sincere condolences. Scott and I were fraternity brothers at Bentley and over the years would run into each other in the area. He always had the same smile and nice way about him. Just recently we traded voice mails, but didn't connect. I am sorry for that, and hope that he is resting in peace.
