As many have already eloquently described Mr. Singer/Sing, he is and always will be one of the most influential teachers in the Mahwah School system. He positively influenced 39 years of students passing through their middle school experience. As one of his early students in the first few years of his career and now as a parent, it is clear that he was unique in his ability to connect with and make every student feel valued and special. Something that is crucial at middle school ages. He influenced my life in such a big way I will never forget him or the inspiration he instilled in each and every one of us. Peace and love to his family and friends.

I´m deeply saddened by Scott´s passing. He was truly a great teacher and well respected by the students. I shared many humorous hours with him and John Carty while teaching in the middle school. It was truly a pleasure teaching with Scott. His pleasant personality and sense of humor will truly be missed.

Heard the news in the car with my daughter there. I began to explain to her how much he cared for students and inspired us all to be great. He accepted us for who we were. We all would practice and perform our best for him.

As I was talking to her, i starter shedding emotional tears and needed a few minutes to compose myself. I had not seen him since 1987, yet here I am at 50 years old feeling this loss!

This goes to show what kind of impact he had on countless generations of students. I wish I knew he was in Florida. I would have loved to see him again.

As an educator, musician, coach, and administrator for the past 24 years, i attempted to be like Sing. His legacy lived through me as I paid it forward to thousands of k-12,students. He was my model on how to be positive and love unconditionally.

Thank you Scott Singer for being you! I love you and will miss you. But know that I will continue to pay it forward in your memory and legacy until I join you one day. RIP Sing

Ramapo Ridge Middle School, Mahwah, NJ 1977-1979. Remember getting to bring in favorite album or cassette to have favorite song played on Fridays. Mr Singer was a one of the coolest teachers a Mahwah student could be fortunate enough to be assigned for music. Rest in peace and may his family and friends be aware of all the lives he touched.

Scott Singer made my middle and high school years not only bearable but inspirational. No one was a bigger cheerleader than Sing - for his music students especially but for everyone, even if he didn´t know them. He was a rare, genuine, kind-hearted person that I know I will never forget. He made me believe in myself and love music. His kindness lifted me up on days where I didn´t want to show my face. His sincerity and his passion was so apparent. I can´t think of anyone besides my own parents who has such a positive impact on my youth. I am so grateful to have known such a wonderful person. To his family - I am so sorry for your loss. May his memory live on

Sing was a great teacher but a better person with a heart of gold! I hold his friendship very close to my heart and will truly miss our conversations and when we would get together for dinner. I love you Sing. Rich lustig

The life lessons Mr. Singer taught everyone for 39 years should be passed on to every student's kids and grandkids. That would be the most fitting way to honor his legacy. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Rest in Peace

He was probably "REALLY" the Whole Center of the "Current Mahwah Public School Band Programs", He was "Somewhat decent to me" may he be "Leading the Great Orchastraw in Heaven" ... Rest in Peace

Myself and many of my Mahwah lifelong friends were part of Mr. Singer´s first couple of years of teaching at Ramapo Ridge. He was a talented, inclusive, loving and just magnetic teacher to all the students he taught. You always wanted to be around him, enjoy his positivity, songs and laughter. Through 25+ teachers we all came in contact with through our education, Mr. Singer always stands out as the best, the favorite. Many of us were blessed to see him at our 35th reunion and cherish that visit.

May he now be masterfully playing his clarinet for all the great souls who passed before him. Rest well Mr. Singer.

I was one of the many Mahwah Ridge students that Sing (Mr. Singer) brought the joy of music to. He was a great teacher and person. I saw the way he inspired so many kids and it was obvious how he enjoyed sharing music and life with so many students. Condolences to his family and friends, may he rest in peace.

I was so lucky to be a student of Mr. Singer - or Sing as we knew him - in the late 80s/ early 90s in Ramapo Ridge Middle School. Sing was such a force in our school. He brought out the best in all of us and inspired us with him unyielding enthusiasm and joy for music and life. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his family and friends find comfort in the joy he brought to so many during his life.
