SCOTT SPENCER Obituary

SCOTT D. SPENCER
January 24, 1954 - December 21, 2025
Scott D. Spencer, Esq., passed away recently at his home in Los Angeles, California.
Born in Santa Monica, Scott became enthralled with horses and the Western lifestyle while spending summers at Friendly Pines Camp in Prescott, Arizona. He chose to attend college at the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University, ultimately earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona in 1979.
Following law school, he was recruited to join a law firm in Las Cruces, New Mexico. With fond memories, Scott later moved to the capital city to work as an Assistant Attorney General in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was very proud to serve under governors of both political parties.
A blind date with an aspiring paralegal, Dane, in 1988 led to marriage and the birth of two children, Clayton and Tori. Scott continued his career with the State of New Mexico at the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department, and later at Regulation and Licensing. After retirement, he continued to assist with bill analysis for the New Mexico Legislature.
In 2014, following the death of his father, Scott returned to Los Angeles and to the home his father had built. He was thrilled when the rest of the Spencer family reunited in Los Angeles, as the children returned from college.
Scott was a devoted and adoring father, husband, and big brother. He enjoyed traveling near and far and cherished his horse, dogs, and cats. Above all, Scott loved making people laugh.
He is survived by his loving wife, Annadane (Castleberry) Spencer; his loving son, Clayton A. Spencer, and daughter-in-law, Samantha (Judilla) Spencer; his loving daughter, Victoria L. (Spencer) Karanth, Esq., and son-in-law, Nayan Karanth, Esq.; and his loving sister, Ellen Spencer Taylor.
Scott is laid to rest near his grandparents at Hollywood Forever/Beth Olam Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.
