Scottie Rose Gallagher Brown, 84, of Nepton, Kentucky known affectionately as Nanny passed peacefully on to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at her beloved home of 53 years.
She was born on March 22, 1941, a daughter of the late William Harrison “Buster” and Ollie P. Downey Gallagher.
Scottie was a one of a kind lady. She could never give enough and she loved with all of her heart. She never met a child that she didn’t love or want to feed. This passion became her occupation when she decided to become a cook at Ewing Elementary School. She worked there for 27 years but spoke of her experience up until her death. Any kid who wanted extra food got it when she was on duty. Her house was always open and all of the children in the community knew that they could come and get a pop, chips, candy or Ice Cream at any time. Her yard was the place where all the neighborhood children and her family gathered to laugh and play. Scottie fulfilled the role of a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt with a beautiful passion. She kept everyone laughing and was always available when advice or just love were needed. She also enjoyed attending church and spending time with her husband before and during her many years of retirement. Every summer you could find Scottie outside painting her house and changing her front porch decorations for every season. Christmas was Scottie’s favorite time of year and when it came to shopping for others Scottie was as her husband says a shopaholic. She left behind a legacy that is unmatched and loved her life and the people in it beyond measure.
Scottie leaves behind the love of her life of 62 years Lewis Q. “Sy” Brown, daughter Donna Brown Gooding, grandchildren Jessica (Tyler) Link of Ewing, and Robert Gooding of Wallingford, Great-grandchildren Arianna Link, Harley Gooding, Errol Gooding, and Gatlin Gooding. Scottie also leaves behind one sister Dulcie “Jackie” Kirby, and a slew of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents Scottie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Marty Scott Brown, her sister Eddis Hester, and brother-in-law Joe “Sonny” Kirby
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 in the Chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Grimes officiating.
