Scottie Eugene Mickey, Jr., 51, of Charlotte passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his wife and family. Born in Wilkes County, NC on February 12, 1974 to the late Scottie and Boyd Mickey. Raised in the mountains of North Carolina, Scott was a proud Eagle Scout, a curious mind, and a determined spirit from the very beginning. He poured himself fully into all he did - from his work as a Quality Manager at the pharmaceutical company to his hands-on skills as a Licensed Contractor and his success as a self-taught stock market day trader. At just 33, Scott was diagnosed with a brain cancer - a challenge he met with incredible strength and quiet grace for 18 years. He never let the illness define him. He embraced each day as a gift from God and found peace and power in his faith. He placed his trust in God and turned often to the Blessed Virgin Mary for comfort and protection. He found consolation and guidance in his faith, often collecting saint prayer cards and turning to them during life's trials. His deep spiritual connection became a source of peace, strength and inspiration for all who knew him. Scott found deep joy in the outdoors and the beauty of nature - from the mountain trails of his childhood to the coastal waters he explored as a scuba diver. He embraced the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean Islands, loved camping under the stars, and found peace sitting beside a crackling fire. Ever adventurous, he cliff-jumped, skydived, and traveled far. Yet, his greatest happiness came from life's simplest moments: cooking his mother's cherished dishes like green beans and potatoes or blueberry cobbler, watching the sunrise with coffee in hand, and sharing quiet evenings with his beloved wife on their back deck. He was a man of conviction, loyalty, and love. A husband who gave everything to his marriage, and a soul who never did anything halfway. Though he had no children, his life was rich, and his heart was full. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kasia - his partner, his best friend, and his greatest love, always standing by his side through every moment. Together they built a life full of adventure, peace, and unwavering devotion. In honor of Scott's memory, family is asking for a heartfeltprayer to a saint who speaks to your heart, or to share quiet moments with those you love or to spend time and meditate in nature. May these simple acts reflect the grace and spirit with which Scott lived. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 8 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 14740 Stumptown Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior in the narthex. Burial following Mass at Northlake Memorial Gardens. 11001 Alexandriana Rd, Huntersville NC 28078. James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
