Scottie Shafar Obituary

Scottie Shafar
December 23, 1938 - May 2, 2023
Kansas City, Missouri - Scottie K. Shafar, 84, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Scottie was born on December 23, 1938. He was an only child born to K.O. Shafar and Clara "Nadine" Shafar in Stet, Missouri. On October 20, 1962, he married Leona "Marcella" Hathcock, and they raised two sons, Craig and Brian. In the late 1960s, Scottie started working for the Credit Bureau of Kansas City until his retirement in 1998. Scottie enjoyed collecting and refinishing antiques and spending time with his family. He was a kind, caring man that loved his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family; he and his wife Marcella loved spending time between their homes in Kansas City, MO, Lake City, CO and Hudson, FL. As a Dad and Grandpa, he was always there with encouraging words, believing in us and helping in any way possible. His passing has made us heartbroken, and he will be missed. Scottie was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella; father, K.O. Shafar; mother, Nadine Shafar; He is survived by his two sons, Craig (Dana) Shafar, Brian (Tammy) Shafar, grandchildren Nicholas Shafar, Samantha Shafar, Joseph Shafar, James (Carly) Duncan, Rebecca (Mick Larsen) Duncan, and Great Grandson Beckham Duncan. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 10:00 am. Memorial contributions in Scottie's memory are suggested to Synergy Services of Kansas City

Scottie was my heart at DaVita. Our playful banter on his dialysis days were my favorite. I will miss his laughter every day.
I loved him so much.
