Scotty, 75, died unexpectedly in his home Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024. He was born Jan. 17, 1949 to Dolly and Martin Smith. If you knew Scotty you knew that he loved to joke around and make others laugh; his laugh was infectious. He loved sports of all kinds especially football and was a fan of Miss. State and Noxapater. He liked to watch girls softball, riding on his side-by-side, and playing with Garfield his cat. In fact he just loved life. He was a member of Campground Church.
Scotty is a graduate of Noxapater High School where he was an outstanding football player. He attended East Central Community College on a football scholarship. He began working with Louisville Electric in June of 1970 and retired as Superintendent of the Electrical Department in June of 2010. Having lived on the farm since birth, Scotty happily retired to the country life. He found a second home at the Smith chicken houses and worked every day as his health allowed. He then began trying to supervise the Smiths. Sometimes he won, sometimes he lost. All of this being handled from the seat of his side-by-side. He will be so missed.
Family came first with Scotty and he dearly loved his daughter, grandchildren and his great grandchildren. Leaving to mourn is his daughter, Melanie Ford (Kiley); grandson, Eric Gray Ford (Sara Kate); granddaughter, Aubrie Claire Shumaker (Eli): great grandchildren Jolene Gray Ford, and Robert Yates Ford, Emma Jo Shumaker and Scottie Anne Shumaker. He is also survived by a special friend, Deborah Wilson; and bonus children and grandchildren: Beverly, Crystal, Thea and Cam; Samantha and Whitt, Angela, Hugh, Morgan and Isaac. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry (Becky) Smith and his loving nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Smith.
Serving as pallbearers are Eli Shumaker, Marty Smith, Tim Smith, Butch Burns, Wells Burns and Isaac Triplett. Memorials in honor of Scotty may be given to Camp Ground Church Missions Fund, c/o Becky Waddell, 3080 Young Crossing Road,
