Sean Frantz Garlick, age 20, of Bush, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024. He was born on February 9, 2004, in Covington, Louisiana, to Tim and Gayle Garlick.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Thomas J. Kelley, Joan A. Garlick and Frantz "Frank" B. Garlick.
He is survived by his caring parents, Francis Timothy and Gayle Kelley Garlick, and many extended family members, and friends.
Sean was always a quiet contemplative person who was academically gifted and never had to do any work to get straight A's. Sean's favorite place and thing to do was to take his dog Snickers to the beach. He was particularly fond of the beaches at Dauphine Island, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida.
Sean was a very diligent Altar Server and served at 7:30 a.m. Mass every Sunday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Folsom, Louisiana from December 9, 2012 through May of 2022. Sean was also a cub scout and boy scout for about nine years. Sean attended Lee Road Junior High School and Archbishop Hannan High School. At both schools he was in the band and played the trombone.
Prior to his cancer diagnosis Sean had a scholarship and was planning on attending Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi to major in chemistry. Sean was six days from moving into his dormitory at Ole Miss when he was diagnosed with cancer.
Sean had a gourmet palette and would never pass up a fine dining opportunity and he liked to dine at Commanders Palace and have Eggs Benedict at Café Rani on Sunday morning after Mass.
Sean loved to play video games and would wile away many hours on his X-box. Sean also had a passion for building Legos.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sean's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital/ALSAC, located in Memphis, Tennessee.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 12:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 11345 St. John Church Road, Folsom, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, Louisiana.

I have not met Sean or his family, but the 22nd Judicial District Court Bar Association shared the news of Sean's passing. It sounds like Sean was an outstanding young man. My condolences to his family as they proceed during this difficult time.

We first met Sean and his father at ChickFilA in Covington. I was there with my son Kristian (age 4 at the time) when in walked Tim and Sean. The boys went to play in the indoor playroom while Tim and I talked, and what a coincidence to learn that they lived down the road from us and both boys would be attending PreK at Lee Road! They became the best of friends and Sean soon became like a second son to us. The boys loved to build with Legos and play video games. I can still see Sean running around the house with his big smile and lots of laughter. We took the boys one year to a Comicon convention and camping in Morgan City. We have enjoyed many Cub Scout/Boy Scout events with Sean. Sean was such an intelligent and respectable young man and sadly taken too soon. I know he would have done so many wonderful things to contribute to society. I know that in spirit he will continue his work in providing meaning to all of this; his story will live on to help someone else in need. He is a true Saint, a fearless Warrior, and we are so proud to have had the honor to know him. May God bless Tim and Gayle. Please bring peace and comfort to them.
