Sean Patrick Leahy Sr., a proud father, devoted husband and cherished member of the Ramona community, passed away on July 1, 2025, at the age of 62.
Born on January 21, 1963, Sean grew up in Huntington Beach, California, where he developed a lifelong love for the ocean. He spent his early years surfing and always found peace watching the waves roll-in.
Sean built a life marked by hard work, humor, and deep love for his community. His career in San Diego began as Bell Captain at the Town and Country Hotel, a role he always swore as his favorite. He also served as Sales Manager at Crest Beverage and later as General Manager at Granny Goose Potato Chip Company, before moving to Ramona and becoming a small business owner.
Sean was the proud owner of Cheers of Ramona from 2003 to 2017. Under his leadership, Cheers became a place for the whole community to enjoy. During this time, Sean took great pride in his involvement with the Ramona Chamber of Commerce.
Before Cheers of Ramona, Sean owned Rosemont Foods Market & Deli from 1999 to 2003, continuing his passion for bringing people together over good food and conversation.
Sean was the beloved husband of Sandy Haney and the proud father of five sons: Ryan, Jake, Sean, Michael, and Collin. He loved his family and found his greatest joy in their achievements and time spent together.
He was the son of Michael and Sheila Leahy. He is survived by his loving sisters Debbie, Teri, Mary Pat, and Mollie. His oldest brother, Michael, preceded him in death in 2024.
Services will be held Thursday, July 17th at 1:30 pm in the Historic Church at the Old Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside.
