Sean Kenneth Maritch

Sean Kenneth Maritch, 27, of Whitehall, took his love, laughter, and music to Heaven on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Born April 25, 1998, in Allentown, he was the son of Kenneth and Marie E. (Lichty) Maritch. Sean was a 2016 graduate of Parkland High School and attended Lehigh Carbon Community College. He was a member of Faith Church for the past five years. In keeping with his giving spirit, Sean was an organ donor who provided the gift of life to others.
Sean was a dispatcher for EF Laudenslager in Orefield, PA, where, according to his supervisor, he "was the best employee we ever had in that position." Before that, Sean worked for local roofing contractors and Morgan's Family Restaurant, and while in high school, he worked at SaladWorks and Pizza Hut.
Sean had a special love for sports, animals, and music. He played soccer for TriBoro Youth Soccer and basketball for Parkland Youth Center (PYC). His basketball team played together for four seasons, and his teammates were like brothers to him. Sean was also an assistant coach for the PYC Introduction to Basketball program.
His kindness to animals was innate, encouraged by his older sister Megan, and evident in his care for family pets ranging from turtles and hamsters to bunnies and cats. In turn, animals loved Sean because he was gentle and attentive. Sean was most proud of his kitten, Minze, whom he adopted in August 2025.
Above all, Sean loved music. The Parkland School District provided Sean's only formal music training. His first performance was a recorder duet with his twin sister, Erin, at Kratzer Elementary School. He also earned a spot in the district orchestra, where he played trombone. Once bitten by the music bug, Sean taught himself how to play the drums, guitar, bass, keyboards, banjo, and mandolin.
Sean's musical influences include local musicians Dr. Jude Sandt, "Uncle Billy" Trexler, Kevin Lang, and Tim Mengel; and American bands Sublime, The Growlers, Slightly Stoopid, and Rebelution. In 2021, Sean co-founded The Higher Notion with Jake Correll and James Herman, who are still in the current lineup, along with Patrick Day. The band has performed throughout the Lehigh Valley area for the past four years.
Survivors: Parents, sisters Megan (Zack Anewalt) of Charleston, SC, and Erin (Jack Reilly) of Scottsdale, AZ, paternal grandfather Ron Maritch (Linda Cronce) of Beverly Hills, FL, and maternal grandfather, Donald Lichty of Allentown, PA. Aunts Lynn Haines, Michelle Perl, Lori Maritch, and Sue Trexler Hope; uncles Rick Haines, Tyke Perl, Mark Maritch, Mike Lichty, Matt Lichty, and Marty Lichty; cousins Tyler Haines, Alex Haines (Laura), Robbie Perl (Helen), Ryan Perl (Rachel), Tommy Gubish (Jacqueline), Nick Maritch (Kailie), and Luke Maritch (Kate). Sean was predeceased by his grandmothers MaryAnn Maritch, Mary Maritch, and Ellen Lichty; great-aunt Marie Edelman; and his uncle Mark Lichty.
Sean's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Faith Church, 6528 Hamilton Blvd. Allentown, PA 18106. The calling hour will be on Saturday, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the Church. Sean's arrangements are lovingly provided by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
Instead of flowers, contributions may be made in Sean's memory, c/o Ken and Marie Maritch, and given to J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home 1601 Hamilton Street Allentown, PA 18102, to be donated to music programs in the Lehigh Valley area.
