September 28th, 1971 – August 27th, 2025

Sean Schaumburg, 53 years old, of Salem, Oregon passed away peacefully at the Legacy Emanual Oregon Burn Center in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday August 27th, 2025. Due to complications from burns suffered in a house fire.

Sean was born on September 28th, 1971, in Washington DC and was raised and lived most of his life in Salem, Oregon. He attended South Salem High School and graduated in 1989. Sean was an excellent swimmer and earned a 4-year varsity letter, as well as being part of a state record setting relay team. Sean was a true patriot and after graduating he joined the Oregon Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer. Sean was a member of the National Guard for over a decade and rose to the rank of Staff Sargent.

Sean loved being outdoors, he spent much of his time exploring and soaking up the wonders of nature. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time camping, boating, crabbing and clamming.

Sean was preceded in death by his father Chuck and is survived by his mother Takako, stepmother Cindy, brother Jean-Pierre, ex-wife Jennifer, daughters Savannah and Madison, and granddaughter Georgia.

A private memorial for friends and family will be held at Willamette National Cemetery., On September 9th, 2025, at 10:00 am- 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please help with donations to Takako and Jean Schaumburg, ATTN: Sean Schaumburg PO Box 5608 Salem, OR 97304, for medical and burial costs. Any concerns or questions can be directed to Mt. Scott Funeral home.
