Selma Ann Britton-Cochran, a beloved soul who brought warmth, humor, and compassion into the lives of those around her, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio. Born on September 30, 1946, in Ohio, Selma's life was a testament to love, generosity, and faith.

Selma dedicated many years of her career as an administrative assistant for Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where she worked until her retirement in 2005. Her colleagues cherished her deeply, celebrating her ability to uplift the workplace with her infectious laugh, kind spirit and baked goods. Selma was the sort of person who went out of her way to help everyone, often putting others' needs before her own, exemplifying a life of selflessness.

Outside of her professional life, Selma was a passionate member of her church community, where she taught Sunday School, sang joyfully, and led a book club that encouraged fellowship among members. Her contributions to the spiritual growth of others were a vital extension of her profound love for Jesus. Selma had a flair for creativity; she embraced hobbies such as sewing, painting, and gardening, and she particularly cherished teaching her great nieces piano and exploring arts and crafts with them, creating precious memories that will last a lifetime.

With family being the cornerstone of her heart, Selma took the deepest pride in her relationships, especially with her son, Jerome (Penelope) Britton. She is fondly remembered by her siblings, RT (Cindy) Cooper and Rise' (Scott Bolton) Isaac, as well as her sister-in-law, Linda Cooper. Her legacy continues through her cherished nephew, RJ (Sarena) Isaac, along with Ronnie Cooper Jr. and Matt (Tammy) Cooper. The joy of her great nieces and nephews, JR, Adalaya, and Araya, filled her life with laughter and happiness, and her fur baby, Kayli, always brought her comfort.

Selma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Britton, her mother, Anna Chapman, and her nephew, Chuck Collins. Though the loss is profound, those she leaves behind carry her spirit forward, celebrating her generous nature and unwavering love.

Family and friends are invited to honor Selma’s remarkable life during a visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio, on October 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will follow on the next day at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum at 10:00 AM.
