Sena VanderHeide

Sena VanderHeide age 91 of McBain passed peacefully away on January 12, 2024 at Curry House Assisted Living in Cadillac. She was born on February 15, 1932 in Richland Township, Missaukee County, to Peter and Jennie (Ellens) DeVries. She married Reverend Kenneth VanderHeide on September 14, 1951 at the McBain Christian Reformed Church and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2017.
Sena had worked as an LPN for many years and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Prosper Chrisitan Reformed Church and was active in church work including Bible Study. Sena had a vast spirit of hospitality and entertaining of relatives and friends. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, and being foster parents for many years.
She is survived by her children; Michael K. (Barb) VanderHeide of Midland, Betty Jean Schofield of Rapid River, Joyce Mae (Tom) Monsma of Grand Rapids, Kathryn Sue (Wendell) Wolff of Berkley, California, and Diane Joy (Bill) VanStaaldninen of Washington, North Carolina, 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, siblings; Angie (Sherman) Postma of Jenison, Sylvia DeVries of Halden, New Jersey and Jane Klumpenhouwer of Sarnia, Ontario, brother-in-law; Simon Scholten of Grant.
She was preceded in death by; siblings and son in-law Dwight Schofield, in-laws; Harold (Carolyn) DeVries, Pearl Scholten, Stephen DeVries, and Rev. John Klumpenhouwer
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain with Reverend Dirk Koetje officiating. Visitation will on Tuesday at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will take place in Riverside Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to World Renew-DRS. A luncheon will follow at the McBain Community Building.
