Sergio Antonio Puente-Morales, 40, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 20, 2014.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2014 at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m.

Sergio Antonio Puente-Morales was born November 30, 1973 in Oaxaca, Mexico to Sergio Puente-Tristan and Maria del Rocio Morales de Puente. Sergio received some childhood education in New Mexico while his father earned his Ph.D. He then was raised in Monterrey, Mexico where he continued his childhood and high school education. Following graduation, Sergio enrolled at the University of Autonoma de Nuevo Leon and he earned his degree in the Facultad de Agronomia in 1999 sponsored by his father.

A year later, Sergio moved to Iowa where he met Elizabeth Ann Pearce and they later made a home in Ankeny. The couple was united in marriage on September 24, 2002, and blessed with two children, Sergio Ethan and Addyson. Sergio was currently employed as a Sow Farm Supervisor at Iowa Select Farms, and took great pride in his position.

Sergio was an avid soccer and football fan and always pulled for the Tigres and Steelers to win. He had a knack to fix anything around the house, or on a car. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing the guitar, singing, dancing, cooking new recipes, and watching YouTube videos to learn how to fix his projects!

Sergio was very proud of his heritage and was commonly seen at various taco stands in the metro area. Most of all, he loved spending time with Elizabeth and his children. They shared great memories playing chess, learning to mow the lawn, biking, roller blading, and Sergio always was there to help with homework. Sergio was blessed with a heart of gold and was a family man who cherished time spent with his entire family who held a special place in his heart.

Sergio will be deeply missed by his wife of 12 years, Elizabeth; children, Sergio Ethan and Addyson; brothers, Carlos Puente-Morales and Alejandro Puente-Morales; parents, Sergio Puente-Tristan and Maria del Rocio Morales de Puente, who shared a special bond with her son; and nieces and nephews, Alexis, Sidney, Alejandro, Ashley, Austin, Sofia, and Carlos Noah. He is also survived by his father-in-law, William (Kelly) Pearce; mother-in-law, Luann (Gary) Van Lengen; sisters-in-law, Andrea Pearce, Nichole (Grant) Nidey, Claire Pearce, and Haley Graf; brothers-in-law, Harrison Pearce and Nick Graf; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; an uncle; and one aunt.

To Sergio was a fantastic father,husband,son,friend,brother, and uncle. It was a shock that he passed away. He always wanted the best for everyone. He made everyone make sure he put a smile on someone's face. He cared for everybody. I know you and the kids are going through a lot of pain.
