Servando Lopez, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 27, 1939, in San Jose, Texas, to his parents, Reynaldo and Audelia V. Lopez. Servando was a proud graduate of San Diego High School, Class of 1958. He honorably served in the United States Army, 2 years active duty and was stationed in Colorado and served 6 years in the Army Reserve. After his service, he worked for Texas DOT in the Engineering Department for 10 years. Servando worked for Sun Oil (later Sunoco) for 30 years before retiring.

Following his retirement, Servando found joy in helping his parents with farming and ranching. He also took great pride in maintaining his yard, a reflection of his love for nature and hard work.

A devoted and active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freer, Texas, Servando was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of the Lions Club.

His greatest joy in life was spending time with his beloved wife, daughters, and grandchildren. Servando was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reynaldo and Audelia V. Lopez.

Servando is survived by his wife of 65 years of marriage, Hortencia C. Lopez of Freer, Texas; two daughters, Gilda L. (David) Montalvo of Hebbronville, Texas; Glinda Lopez (Abel Cortinas) of Corpus Christi, Texas; his three sisters, Ester († Adolfo) Alaniz, twins, Estella Salinas and Enedina († Raymundo) Montez; five grandchildren, Abigail Villarreal, Jaime Villarreal, David Ryan Montalvo, Marissa Hinojosa (Humberto) Garcia and Gabrieal Hinojosa; three great grandchildren, Arabella Callies, Kaeyden Garcia and Kevin Garcia; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freer, Texas. Military Graveside Service and Interment will follow at Buena Vista Cemetery in La Rosita, Texas
