Seth Weldon Austin, age 33, of Knoxville, passed away on September 13, 2025. Seth was a deeply compassionate, creative, sensitive, and brilliant man, beloved by countless friends and family. He blessed us all with his deep love for those close to him, his thoughtful insights, his clever and incisive grasp of life's beauties and absurdities, and his encyclopedic knowledge of a hundred different subject areas. He is sorely missed by all those who must now carry those blessings only in memory.

Seth was passionate about hiking, music, gaming with friends, brewing recipes, and so much more. He could tell you anything about Lord of the Rings, aviation, the types and timing of adding hops to a brew, and garden husbandry. Forever giving, a beautiful old soul, he fully embraced his kith and kin, and felt deeply. If you needed a helping hand, he was there. If you needed a dining room table built, he was your guy. Accomplished in the kitchen, he gave time and care to all the dishes he prepared for his family and friends. He especially liked meals that would accommodate the wide ranges of hot sauces that he kept on hand, even if the hot sauces did not always like him back. Seth appreciated music of many kinds, from bluegrass to EDM. A lover and student of soccer, he would become particularly annoyed when a perfectly placed cross flew past the spot where a far post striker should have been. In all these things and more, he listened and learned. May all of us who knew and loved him continue to listen to his wise and compassionate voice.

Seth was pre-deceased by his grandfather, Lelus Weldon, and his aunt, Rev. Lee Austin. He is survived by his wife Serena, brother David (Kourtni), parents Brian and Sandra, grandmothers Gail Weldon and Bonnie Negola (Ed), grandfather Tom Austin (Mary), nieces Sophie and Willow Austin, and many loving cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Seth's life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Saturday, September 27, 11:00 am, at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel, 5301 Fountain Rd, Knoxville, TN 37918. Additionally, there will be a celebration of life on Nov. 1, 2025 at the Austin home in Dandridge, a time for friends and family to gather for stories and remembrances. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local zoo or animal sanctuary.

Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Austin family and invites you to view and sign the online registry.
