Seth A. Sample

Seth Alton Sample, 38, of Arthur, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2025, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Seth was born on March 2, 1987, in Alliance, Nebraska. In 1991, he and his family moved to Arthur, Nebraska, where he grew up and built many lifelong friendships. He graduated from Arthur County High School with the Class of 2005.

Seth was blessed with two children, Paisley and Pepper. He was incredibly proud of the young people they are becoming and found his greatest joy in being their Dad. Seth had a natural gift with kids, and they always seemed to gravitate toward him. Whether it was his children, his nieces, or any child, he was generous with his attention and always had a willingness to teach them. Seth lived his life the cowboy way - working hard, staying humble, and always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Seth had the gift of turning the longest, toughest days of work into something fun and enjoyable. With his keen, quick wit and insightful humor, he could always deliver the perfect comment to liven up any environment.

In 2024, Seth was diagnosed with oral cancer, and he fought a brave and determined fight surrounded by those who loved him.

Seth is survived by his children, Paisley and Pepper, both of Arthur; his parents, Aldon and Mary Sample of Arthur; his sister and brother-in-law, Sabrina (Jeremy) Canning of Ogallala; and their children, Audrey and Sadie.

He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends who will forever remember his kindness and strength. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, several uncles, and a cousin.

A celebration of Seth's life will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Arthur High School Gym with Pastor Blake Wilkes officiating. Interment will be in the Arthur Cemetery. In true cowboy spirit, friends and family are invited to come as they are.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.

A memorial has been established in Seth's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the services will be streamed live.
