Seth Edward Sims

Seth Sims, age 47, of Jefferson City, Missouri passed away on April 13, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 28, 1975, in Jefferson City, Missouri and is the son of Edward Sims and Wanda Smart (Connell). He was united in marriage to Rebecca McClain on August 27, 2022.
He graduated from Blair Oaks High School in 1994. After graduation Seth began working for Cargill, and worked there until 2004. In 2004 he began work as a Corrections Officer at Jefferson City Correctional Center, and worked there until his passing.
He loved his children most of all. He loved being a father and had perfected hundreds of "Dad Jokes". He was funny, silly, and exceptionally witty. When described by others, the same comment was repeated over and over - Seth was the kindest man they knew.
Seth is survived by Wife, Becky McClain-Sims of Jefferson City, Missouri; daughter, Alexis Gann and her fiance Robert Goodwin of Centertown; and sons, Skyler and Cooper Sims of the home. He is also survived by his mother and step-father, Wanda and Philip Smart of Centertown, Missouri; bonus mother, Vivian Bird of California, Missouri; sisters, Christina Conn and her husband Dean of Centertown, Missouri; Karla Downing and her husband Brian of California, Missouri; Holly Foster and her husband Rodney of Jefferson City, Missouri; Brother, Aaron Smart and his wife Carrie Smart of Clarksville, Tennessee; brothers-in-law Shane McClain and his wife Camille of Jefferson City, MO, Preston McClain and his wife Katelyn of Holts Summit, Missouri, and Trevor McClain and his wife Shelby of Hartsburg, Missouri; Nephews, Andrew Blankenship of Ogden, Utah and Anthony Blankenship (Brittany) of Fort Leonardwood, Missouri; Nieces, Emelyn and Mia McClain of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Karsyn McClain of Holts Summit, Missouri; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and life long friends. Seth was preceded in death by his father, Edward Sims and his nephew, Caleb McClain.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 16, 2023, at First Christian Church - Jefferson City with Pastor Michael Dunn officiating. In lieu of a visitation, there will be a reception at the church after the memorial service. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Family of Seth Sims for a college fund for Cooper and Skyler.
