SFC Mark Thomas Henderson, Jr , 41 of Havana, Florida, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. He was born in Tallahassee, Florida on April 26, 1984.
He proudly served in the 160th Military Police Battalion Unit / Army Military Police Regimental from 2003 - 2026. He had five deployments and special missions to South Korea. He earned Three Army Commendation Medals (ARCOM), Three Army Achievement Medals (AAM); One Meritorious Unit Commendation, One Army Good Conduct Medal and Seven Army Reserve Component Achievement Medals. His Badges include: Combat Action Badge, Marksmanship Qualification Badge - Sharp Shooter w/Pistol and Marksman Qualification Badge with w/Rifle. Other badges and awards also including the Combat Action Badge, Army Element Special Operations Command Combat Service Identification Badge, Afghanistan Campaign: Two Bronze Stars, Operation Inherent Resolve Campaign: Bronze Star, NATO- ISAF (Afghanistan & Balkans) Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal.
He was employed at Wakulla Correctional Institution, where he was an officer for 15 years. He was a long-time member of Havana First Baptist Church. Mark was a devoted son, a loving husband, and a proud father. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He supported his kids in all their extracurricular activities. Mark had a passion for Florida State University sports and took his family to many local games. His favorite family vacation was relaxing and making memories at the beach. The memories made with his family will never be forgotten.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Carolena Henderson; Their three children, John, Owen, and Anna Henderson. His parents, Mark Sr and Georgeanne Henderson, all of Havana, Florida. His brother Joseph Henderson (wife Becky), niece Ellie, and nephew Colt of Tallahassee, Florida.
Mark was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John T. Henderson, Jr., and Virginia Henderson; and also his maternal grandparents, George and Myrtice Berryman
The funeral service will be a 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Havana First Baptist Church, Havana, Florida. Interment will follow the service at Tallahassee Memory Gardens in Tallahassee, Florida. (Full Military Honors), with Dr. Eric Erskine officiating the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Faith Funeral Home & Crematory (6972 FL/GA Hwy. Havana, Florida 32333)
