Shane E. Berge, Sr., 70, of Utica, passed away at his home on January 13, 2026.

He was born on April 2, 1955, in Utica, the son of the late Edward and Rachel (Glover) Berge. Shane was a graduate of New Hartford High School. He was previously married to the late Katherine Rosato. Shane was the owner and operator of Berge Construction Company. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his children, Katie Berge (Thomas Helmer Jr.) of Poland, Shane Berge II (Holly Henderson), and Ryan Berge (Taylor DeVito); his grandchildren, Kylie Pratt (Richard Fidell, Jr.), Cody Berge, Kaylee Pratt, and Hunter Berge; his great-grandchildren, Gianni and Paxton; his siblings, Lee Michaels and Brian Berge, both of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
