Several years ago Kevin Nelson poncho and I went boating in Kevin's SK. Garr Peterson Lonnie Bailey and Troy Allen were in Garr's boat and we were about to tie the boat together and just hang out near the river bottoms on pineview dam. We didn't quite make it to gars boat and a great big Bayliner circled both the boats and a huge wave went over top of our SK and the boat began to sink. Poncho grabbed as many of the life jackets is he could get his hands on and the Styrofoam cooler because he could not swim. He was dressed in wranglers cowboy boots and a long sleeved snap up shirt. I can picture the image in my mind of Pancho yelling at me get the beer save the beer. It was pretty scary the boat was going down so fast. Guard hooked on to us and it took everything his boat had to pull us up out of the water and down this and around the dam several times in order to drain the water out of the boat. Thinking about it now it had to have been a funny site watching poncho scramble for the life jackets oh and the seats to the boat cuz they were floatable. Thank God we all survived without a scratch. Pancho was always so lighthearted and easy to get along with always had a good time when we'd hang out. I have many more memories but that memory sticks in my mind and I think about it a lot. Poncho will be dearly missed never forgotten and always in the hearts of family and friends that loved him.
