Shane Miller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Family Life Funeral Homes - Sault Sainte Marie (formerly Clark Hovie Galer on Nov. 7, 2023.
Sadly, on Monday October 23,2023, Shane David Miller of Sault Ste Marie passed away peacefully in Marquette, Michigan surrounded by his siblings at the age of fifty-five.
Shane was born on February 19, 1968, in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. He is proceeded in death by his beloved mother Sharon Miller. Shane's younger years were filled with days spent at Sherman Park and ice skating at McKinley school. Shane loved to entertain people, whether it be a joke or with a magic trick. He had a remarkable sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Shane graduated from Sault Area High School and pursued his passion of politics at Lake Superior State University.
Besides politics, Shane's other passion was cooking. He was an institution for many years at Zorba's where he knew everyone, and everyone knew Shane. Shane enjoyed playing Santa on countless Christmas Eves for delighted children, shooting pool on pool league, fishing, and watching the Detroit Tigers. He was a mainstay at concerts at the Kewadin and never missed an appearance by REO Speedwagon.
Shane was honored to be appointed to the position of City Commissioner for the city that he loved so much, and he strived to make the city better. Shane took great pride in Sault Ste Marie and the community that he called home. His zest for life and people was infectious and his outgoing personality will be missed.
Shane is survived by his daughters Emily Autin and Chelsey Hernadez and his siblings Kim Miller, Tiffany Schmidt, and Natasha Halonen. He has six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Shane's life and memory will be held at the American Legion in the Soo with a family style potluck on Saturday November 4th from 2-5 p.m.
