Shane Damion Montgomery was born on April 25, 1996, in Wiesbaden Germany. He was the beloved third child and oldest twin of Malinda Montgomery-Fryer. After Germany, Shane spent his early years in Spanaway, Washington and Kingsland, Georgia. When he was 10, his family moved to North Carolina where he attended Harnett County and later Wake County Schools. During his time in middle and high school, he made several lifelong friends. As an adult, he worked as a landscape assistant, disaster recovery tech and various labor roles. Shane had an amazing heart and was kind to all. Shane's humor was the type that had to grow on you. Once you realized he was all love, the joke became obvious. He was loyal sometimes to a fault. Shane's joy was infectious, he enjoyed making himself and others laugh. He could be an immeasurable source of joy.
Shane was a beloved father, twin, son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle. In March of 2016 he welcomed Emori (9, NC) into his heart the following May 2017 Josiah (8, NC) joined his big sister in Shane's affection. Shane loved his children with all his huge, loving heart. His greatest wish was to be an amazing father. Shane was an amazing son. He never forgot his moma, no matter what he was going through. Shane was an active and attentive brother, big cousin and uncle.
Shane lived life out loud. He was a bundle of energy and could make anyone enraged and cry in laughter by turns within a couple of minutes. On Thursday, October 16, 2025, Shane joined his Grandma Bea (Betelena S. Owens) & father, Anthony Fryer in the afterlife.
Left to grieve the loss of his laughter are his children, Emori & Josiah; his mother, Malinda (52, Illinois); his twin, Shawn Montgomery (29, NC), his brother, Montravius Montgomery (30, NC) & his sister, Bethany Owens (36, Honduras); along his partner, Paula Sanders (45, GA). Also left to mourn his death are his four nephews, Carter Montgomery (10, NC), Z'yada Montgomery (2, NC), Evan L. Owens (1, Honduras), Z'akari Montgomery (1, NC); Included in those whose lives are emptier without his presence are his paternal grandmother, Eunice Fryer & maternal grandfather, Willie J.
