Shane M. Newberry, age 56, was born at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Virginia. Shane passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 2, 2025. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
Shane was a man of many talents and passions. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marines for nine years, demonstrating unwavering dedication and honor. Following his military service, he attended the University of Toledo where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. After a fulfilling career in engineering, in both Ohio and Virginia, Shane followed his dream of owning a restaurant. He combined his love for entertainment and cooking to transform Pie-o-neer Pizza Bar, where his warmth and entrepreneurial spirit touched the lives of many.
His interests were as diverse as his talents, encompassing cooking, bowling, golfing, traveling, and hosting. Shane always enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was by the pool or beach, with an Orange Crush in hand. He had a green thumb, and his collection of plants was a true reflection of that. He was the family's party planner and travel guide, ensuring every gathering and trip was filled with joy and laughter that created memories that last forever.
Shane's passion for sports was evident both on and off the field, whether coaching soccer and baseball as a role model to his children and countless young athletes or cheering on his favorite teams as an avid fan. He also dedicated his time to organizing events and fundraisers for
Relay For Life.
As a devoted husband, father, and son, Shane is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Cindy Newberry (nee Pecjak); his daughter Courtney Anzalone and her husband Patrick; his two sons, Trevor and Austin Newberry; his parents, Barbara and Garry Newberry; his mother-in-law, Patricia Pecjak; and his two dogs, Daisy and Ollie. Shane also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his Uncle Jerry and Aunt Nancy, and his father-in-law, James Pecjak.
