Shannon Floyd Fowler, age 79, of Centerville, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025 at his home.
Shannon was born on September 3, 1945 in Unionville, Missouri, the son of Shannon Dow Fowler and Glatha Marie (Kelley) Fowler. He graduated from Putnam County High School with the Class of 1963. He was united in marriage to Janice Grey, and to this union, a son, Michael was born.
Shannon worked for Baxter Box Company, McGraw & Edison, and Southern Iowa Utilities-where he ended up retiring. He enjoyed retirement for a period of time, before accepting a job at Iowa Steele and Wire.
Shannon loved to be active. He was always happy while he was in the woods sawing trees. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, going to Pancake Day festivities, tinkering in the garage, picking up black walnuts and cracking them, feeding/watching the squirrels and mowing his grass- keeping his yard perfect. He cherished the moments he spent with his grandchildren, and the "cool kid socks" that they would give him.
Left to honor Shannon's memory are his wife, Janice Fowler; his son, Michael (Jaimie) Fowler; his grandchildren, Gage Fowler, Hayden Hopper, and Marley Fowler; his sister, Virginia Ayles; his nieces, Beverly Ryan and Deanna Tice; his nephew, David (Jennie) Stull; as well as other extended family members and friends.
Shannon was preceded in death by his parents, Shannon and Glatha Fowler; his brother-in-law, Ed Ayles; and his in-laws, Jesse and Irene Grey.
Per wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Friday, March 14, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 10-11AM. A Celebration of Life service will follow the visitation at 11AM at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Tony Alexander officiating. Memorials may be made out to Janice Fowler, to be determined at a later date, and mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN Fowler Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
