Albany- Sharan Phillip-Smith passed away on November 29,2025. Sharan Phillip was born On August 23, 1961, to the late Victor and Adeline Phillip of Gonzales, Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago. She was the second child of this marriage, following her brother Sherwayne.
In June 1974, Sharan migrated to the United States, where she attended and graduated from Winthrop Junior High School and Wingate High School in Brooklyn, NY.
She later moved to Baytown, Texas, with her daughters Kyna and Karla, where her mother Adeline, stepfather Kelvin Cox, and sister Patricia Brown resided. While living in Texas, Sharan welcomed her son DeVon. She worked at Piccadilly for many years before moving back to New York.
Sharan pursued higher education at Bryant & Stratton College, earning her Medical Assistant degree. She then worked at Albany Medical Center for over a decade as a unit secretary in the critical care unit, where her dedication and compassion touched many lives.
In later years, she married Keith Smith, the father of her children. Sharan leaves behind her husband Kenneth; her three children, Kyna (Christian) of North Carolina, Karla (Ian) of Florida, and Devon of Troy her brother Sherwayne (Judith) of Florida; her sister Patricia Brown of Texas; as well as a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory.
Sharan was not only a devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mother, but also a great friend to many. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and understood. Her warmth, laughter, and willingness to be there for others created bonds that will be remembered and treasured by all who knew her.
Sharan endured many years of health challenges with strength and grace until her untimely passing. She will be remembered for her resilience, her love for family, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met. She will be dearly missed.
Viewing 11-12, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00pm, will be held Saturday December 6, 2025 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 181 Troy Schenectady Rd. Watervliet, NY 12189
