Sharlene (Pearl) Burgess Lambring transitioned to her new home in Heaven on Friday afternoon, August 29. 2025. She was born April 25, 1938, in Ames, OK, the youngest of two daughters, to Wayne and Stella (Bland) Mason. She grew up in a Christian home and was baptized at the age of 12. Sharlene graduated from Ames High School in 1956 and married Llewellyn A. Burgess. Together, they raised four children: Bun, Babba, Ted, and Led in Banner, OK.
In 1984, Sharlene married Dennis Lambring and made their home in Oklahoma City. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Stella Mason, and her sister Betty Shuller.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Lambring of the home, son, Ron (Susie Thompson) Burgess, of Oklahoma City, daughter, Barbara (Gene) Smith of Hartwell, GA, daughter, Terri (Cliff) Angel of Forney, TX, and son, Larry Burgess (Patty Essman) of Kansas City, MO. Stepchildren include Fran Fenton, LeAnn Reagan, Paul Lambring, Katie Wortham and Jason Thompson. Her grandchildren include Brandon Raupe, Madisen Sainz, Josh Smith, Morgan Akin, Hayley Burgess, Darcy Burgess and was blessed with 15 step-grandchildren. GiGi and Papa D, together, have a grand total of 34 great-grandchildren. She adored her nieces and nephew, Linda Curtis, Janis Larsen and Jimmy Lindsey, as well.
Sharlene loved her family passionately and could be found in her toddler years squeezing the legs of family members, thus earning the nickname "Squeezer." Along with her sister, Betty, they hatched a plan to create the first ever, Possum Kingdom Reunion in 1987 that would become a beloved tradition for the Mason Clan for years to come. The talent competition was a favorite for Sharlene as she was crowned "Possum Queen" in the first years. She was a School Board Member at Banner School and later became a bailiff for the Canadian County, OK, District Court. She and Dennis moved to Oklahoma City, where she worked in the Judge Advocate General's Office at Tinker Air Force Base, shaking hands with President George H. Bush and other military dignitaries. Sharlene retired after 20 years of service in 2004.
After retirement, Sharlene enjoyed gardening, swimming, and country and western dancing. As an avid reader, she particularly enjoyed working with the ESL program at Red Oaks Elementary School. Her membership in two Red Hat Ladies Groups reflected her love for socializing and relationships. Sharlene served for 10 years as the Ladies' Oklahoma State Director of Farm Bureau District 3.
Other extracurricular activities include serving on the St. Andrews Community Church Board, where she and Dennis attended regularly. They loved playing Bridge and Mexican Train Dominoes. She loved to travel and could boast that she had visited all 50 states, except for three. She loved her cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska, as well.
"Grandma" never missed a milestone event for her grands. She insisted that she and Papa would be at all new arrivals, graduations, and weddings. She will always be in our hearts and memories and has left a robust legacy behind until we meet again.
Sharlene's Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrews Community Global Church in southwest Oklahoma City at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 4, 2025. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home Chapel, located at 120 S. Broadway, Moore, OK
