Sharon Arruda Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels and Cremation Services on Feb. 3, 2026.
Sharon Alice Arruda (née Morrissey), born March 14, 1941, in Washington, D.C., passed away on January 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Sharon lived a life filled with creativity, warmth, and a deep devotion to making the world more beautiful in both big and small ways.

She had a remarkable talent for crafting. Whether she was designing handmade decorations, creating thoughtful gifts, or dreaming up new projects simply because they inspired her, Sharon poured her heart into every detail. Her artistic spirit naturally led her to work in a florist shop, where she crafted elegant flower arrangements that brightened celebrations, comforted loved ones, and added grace to everyday life.

Sharon was an exceptional cook. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and unforgettable meals. She had a special gift for transforming holidays into magical experiences-Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Halloween were brought to life through her creativity, her traditions, and her joy in making each celebration meaningful for her family.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Christine Arruda, and her partner Heath Verrill of Hamden, MA, and her sons, Kevin Arruda of Enfield, CT, and David and Nancy Arruda of Colchester, CT. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Tatiana Arruda of Somers, CT, Gabrielle Arruda of Bristol, CT, and Jordan Arruda and Jacob Arruda, both of Boston, MA. They will forever cherish her kindness, her imagination, and the love she shared so generously. She was preceded in death by her parents Vera and James Morrissey.

A service honoring Sharon's life will be held at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapel, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20th.
