Sharon Beebe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home - Independence on Dec. 15, 2025.
Sharon Kay Roadcup Smith Beebe, 83, passed away unexpectedly in Burlington, KY on Dec. 13, 2025. She was born on July 8, 1942, in Covington, KY. She attended Dixie Heights High School, graduating in 1960. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and William Roadcup and her husband of 52 years, Gerald Ray Smith.

Sharon was the first official member of First Church of Christ and remained active there, serving most recently on the Bereavement Team, as a Guest Services volunteer and hosting bible study in her home. A member of the Stringtown Quilting Guild, she enjoyed sewing and quilting. Sharon loved and was loved dearly by her family.

An excellent cook, when asked how to bring people together, she said, "Feed them." A creative spirit, Sharon loved butterflies, books and the color blue. She helped bring the first public library to Boone County. She also passed on her love of reading to her children and anyone else within her reach.

She worked for Procter & Gamble in accounts receivable before giving birth to her son Jerry, but her favorite job was working for a florist when she lived in Texas. She said people were always happy to see her regardless of their circumstances when she made a delivery. While she held various jobs throughout her life, Sharon's most important role was that of mother and homemaker. She was a lifetime member of the Boone County Homemakers.

A beloved wife and mother, she is survived by her husband Steve Beebe; her son Jerry Smith; daughters Suzanne Yowler (David) and Elizabeth Lawrence (Ryan) her grandchildren, Austin Yowler (Brooke), Kendall Yowler, Claire Lawrence and Vic Smith (Kyle); and her siblings, David Roadcup (Karen) and Debbie Fightmaster. Her many other friends and family members will miss her immeasurably.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at First Church of Christ in Burlington, KY. Visitation is from 3:30 PM until shortly before the time of the funeral at 5:30 PM. Memorial donations may be made in person at services or online to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or First Church of Christ.
