Sharon was born on July 30,1952 in Evergreen Park, IL. She grew up in a few IL cities before finalizing her education as a West Aurora Blackhawk where she graduated after being a cheerleader during her high school years. Sharon broke the rules when she started dating an East Aurora Tomcat and her future husband her junior year. Jim and Sharon were married in July of 1971 after Jim came home from Infantry training. They then headed off to Fort Benning, GA for 6 months for NCO training. When they returned to Aurora, Jim was sent off to Vietnam for just under a year. Upon Jim returning, they lived in Aurora and had their first of 2 sons, Brad, in 1973. They lived in Aurora until 1981 when they moved to Sugar Grove, IL and had their second son Brett. Then in 1988 they finished building a custom home in Maple Park where they lived for about 15 years before moving back to Aurora to finish her career and then ultimately retiring and moving out to Sandwich, IL.
Sharon loved her weekend summer trips to Lake Petenwell in Wisconsin in the early years. A Friday tradition was to take a half day off work and head to the Lake every summer weekend for many years. So many memories and experiences were forged there. After the boats were sold, new hobbies emerged, and golf led the way along with bowling. But friends and family were the centerpiece of all her hobbies. As time passed, Gulf Shores, AL became a favorite family vacation destination and she spent many, many beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the beaches along the Gulf of Mexico.
Sharon was a loyal employee of Eby-Brown for over 30 years managing the administration department and formed many friendships with her coworkers. Too many to name here, she really cherished those relationships with those she managed, other managers and the ownership as well.
Cal's Angels was an important charity to Sharon as it helped her granddaughter Madi through her battle with pediatric cancer. If you wish to donate in her name, please visit www.calsangels.org to donate (upper left corner) and please click honor or memorial at the bottom of the donation page.
Sharon was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be missed by so many family and friends. A large void has been opened that will not be easily filled. Sharon had wished to not have a traditional visitation, but a celebration of life attended by family and close friends. That event will be in the coming weeks as determined by her family.
