Sharon Susan (nee Pettit) Bennett, of West Harrison, IN, passed away peacefully at her home on January 17, 2025. Born on August 11, 1948, in Aurora, IN, she was the beloved daughter of Clarence and Cornelia (nee Heaton) Pettit. Sharon was a creative spirit with a passion for crafting and sewing, always finding joy in bringing beauty to the world around her.
In her dedicated role at Sears in the Paint and Wallpaper department, and later as a cherished employee at JoAnn Fabrics, Sharon made countless friends and shared her talent with others. Her creative skills came to life when she and her husband, Paul, built their home together, where she infused every room with her unique touch, love and a few owls. She also added her special touches to her many wonderful garden beds.
A true matriarch, Sharon was the heart and soul of her family. She was a devoted wife to Paul, a loving mother to Stephanie (David Baker) and Todd (Lycia Maurits) Bennett, and a proud grandmother to Brandon (Elyse Lohrbach) and Robert (Jessica Stanfield) Yocum, Lydia (Jason) Kitzmiller, and Brianna Bennett and 7 great-grandchildren. Known for her generosity and unwavering support, she touched the lives of those around her, always putting others before herself.
Sharon's strength shone brightest as a beloved breast cancer survivor. She approached life with patience and grace, instilling wisdom in her children and grandchildren as she taught them the joys of driving and shared in their everyday adventures.
Sharon is also survived by her brothers-in-law, James (Wanda) and William Bennett and sister-in-law: Brenda Pettit, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, especially Carla Perry, who will hold her memory close to their hearts. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents: Clarence and Cornelia (nee Heaton) Pettit along with her siblings: Lydia Jean, Larry (Ann), Richard and Wilford (Louella) Pettit and brother-in-law: Donald (Yvonne) Bennett; and sister in law: Effie Bennett.
