Sharon Kay Bullion
October 1, 1942 – September 21, 2025
Sharon Kay Bullion, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on October 1, 1942, Sharon grew up with a strong sense of curiosity, adventure, and kindness that guided her throughout her life. She earned an X-ray scholarship and proudly worked as an X-ray technician. This afforded her time to travel through Europe in her youth—an experience that broadened her perspective and gave her stories she loved to share, especially about skiing in the mountains of Switzerland.
Her life changed forever when she met Jim in Toledo, Ohio. Their blind date led to a deep and meaningful conversation about marriage that same night, and the two soon wed in Toledo. Sharon loved her life with Jim and together, they built a family filled with love and purpose. After settling in Fort Wayne, Jim and Sharon welcomed their sons, Eric and Keith, and shortly after the twins were born, they moved to Palatine, Illinois where they raised their boys.
Sharon was deeply involved in her community, much of it centered around raising her boys. She served as an administrator for the Palatine Celtic Soccer Club, cheered on countless games as a devoted sports mom, supported the school band as a booster, and even found time to rollerblade with her friends. Her generosity knew no bounds—if someone needed help, Sharon was the first to volunteer. She and Jim became active members of St. Michael’s Parish, and later, Holy Apostles when Jim became the Rector of the parish, where many of Sharon’s closest friendships blossomed.
In her later years, nothing made her happier than seeing her kids and grandkids. She loved having them over to her house and visiting their houses where she cheered on many soccer, football, baseball and basketball games for each of the grandkids. She loved cooking, reading and gardening. Sharon lived an active life. Whether it was traveling with her sister-in-law Freda, coffee on Friday mornings with her friends from Palatine, walking to stay fit with her friends from St. Michael's, or traveling with her friends from Holy Apostles, Sharon always stayed busy. She took mission trips to Costa Rica and in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, to New Orleans, experiences that reflected her compassion and faith in action. Closer to home, she cherished her Tuesday evenings at Strawberry Moon, where she shared cocktails and conversation with lifelong friends, often graced in her favorite color, red. Sharon will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, full of unwavering kindness, adventurous spirit, and the way she made everyone she met feel valued and loved, always placing the needs of others before her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Adonna Lagos, her husband, Jim, and her brother Tom. She is survived by her sons, Eric and Keith, her cherished grandchildren, Luca, Genevieve, Dominic, Lorenzo, and Wilton, and her brother Greg.
A memorial service will be held at Church of the Holy Apostles, 26238 Barrington Road, Wauconda, IL 60084, at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday September 27, 2025, with visitation from 12:00-3:00 in Lincoln Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to PADS, Church of the Holy Apostles.
