Sharon A. Calhoun, 84, of Mishawaka entered heavenly rest on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at home with family by her side. She was born September 19, 1940, to the late Maurice and Elsie (Vandenberge) Kerckaert. She married Donald J. Carr in June of 1965, who preceded her in death in 1974, and later married Lawrence “Cal” Calhoun on May 7, 1976, who preceded her in death in 2006.

Surviving are her 3 children, Robert (Amy) Carr, Sr., Kathryn (Rex, Jr.) Howard, and Deborah Regan, all of Mishawaka; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Alicia, and Robert Carr, Jr. and Elizabeth and Alex Regan; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Regan. Surviving are also her three siblings Gary and Bob Kerckaert, and Julie Roth.

Sharon was known for her sharp mind and talent with numbers, dedicating nearly 30 years as a bookkeeper for local businesses. Beyond her professional life, Sharon found her greatest joy in spending quality time with her family. She built deep and meaningful connections with her children and grandchildren through heartfelt storytelling, reading books together, and engaging in lively card games. A devoted fan of classic mysteries, Sharon spent many enjoyable hours watching shows like Perry Mason and Matlock, delighting in unraveling their clever plots. Sharon also shared her creativity by crocheting clothes and dolls, leaving her loved ones with treasured keepsakes and fond memories. Sharon’s faith was an integral part of who she was. In the 1970s, she taught Catechism classes, imparting her love for God and her faith to younger generations. She was immensely proud of her faith, which brought her peace, joy, and purpose throughout her life. The vision of "holding hands and walking with Jesus" not only gave her encouragement but also inspired those around her, leaving a lasting legacy of hope and love for her family and friends to cherish.

A time to visit with family and friends is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 4-7pm, at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place, Thursday, January 9 at 11 am at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
