On August 23, 2025, our cherished matriarch, Sharon Cole Everington, 75, of Green Cove Springs, while surrounded by family, was granted her angel wings. Born November 17, 1949, she lived a life of endless love and devotion to her family. Anyone who knew her knew family was her first priority. She was also known for her feisty attitude, home cooked meals and her famous potato salad.
She retired at 73 from Kindred Hospital, where she was a cook for 18 years. During her years of employment, she touched the lives of many patients and coworkers.
Although she was small in stature, she was mighty in spirit, never afraid to speak her mind. If anyone asked her opinion, she would give an honest answer, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. Her feisty attitude kept everyone on their toes. We will miss her fiery spark every day.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ray, who adored her beyond measure. His love for Sharon was evident to all who knew them. Daughters Michele (David) Everington, Joanna Everington, Shawna (Kelly) Hicks, and Edie (Mikey) Jones.
Grandchildren Breann (Jon) Rapoza, Brooke (Keegan) Tanner, Jesse Smith, Kaylee (Zach) Middle, James, Wyatt and Scarlett Hicks, Shae and Jasmine Jones.
Great-grandchildren Willow, Anslee, Hunter, Astrid, Freyja, Waylon, and Bodie.
A celebration of her life will be held in the near future. Information will be posted on social media and with calls and messages.
Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.
As scripture reminds us: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalms 34:18). May this promise bring peace and strength to the family she loved so dearly. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Sharon, please visit our Tree Store.
