Sharon Lynn Cox, a beloved resident of the Austin community, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospice in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on June 22, 1949, Sharon was the daughter of the late Fonis Jewell Walden and Lillian Marie Goode Walden. She dedicated her life to family, community, and her career with the Glasgow Housing Authority, from which she retired after many fulfilling years. Lynn was a faithful member of the Flippin Church of Christ where she cherished her time spent with her church family.
Lynn was not only a devoted family member but also an avid lover of horses, often found working on the farm or nurturing her garden. She had a passion for both cultivating flowers and harvesting fresh vegetables for canning, activities that reflected her nurturing spirit. Most importantly, she treasured the time spent with her loved ones, always placing family at the center of her life.
Lynn's legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her sons, Kevin Cox (Missy) and Stacy Cox, along with her cherished grandchildren, Kelsey Richardson (Caleb), Cameron Cox, and Jacob Cox (Beth). Sharon also holds dear the memories of her sister in laws, Glenda Wheat and Joyce Hoffman; and nieces and nephews, Tammy Christie (Ricky), Quinna Walden, Jane Pedigo, Van Combs, Theresa McMillan (Terry), Christopher Landrum, Kathy Long (David), John Purvis (Nicole), Michael Hoffman, Regina Miller, and James Hoffman, as well as several great nieces and nephews who brought joy to her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Wayne Cox, with whom she shared 55 beautiful years of marriage, her sister, Brenda Landrum, and her brother, Carroll Walden.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cox will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 7th, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be Wednesday, January 7th, beginning at 10:00 AM until time for the service at the funeral home.
