Sharon Renae Decker

 

Sharon Renae Decker, age 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at St. Anne’s in Winona on Saturday, November 25, 2023. She was born in Winona on December 17, 1949.

Her loving family includes: Her husband, Gib; Son, Scott (Angela) Decker of St. Charles; Son, Brent (Rachel) Decker of La Crescent; and Daughter, Mindy Decker (Troy Vaughn) of Winona. Her grandchildren, Josie, Luke, Carlyn, and Rylan. She is further survived by her siblings, Sue (John) Modry, Deb (Rod) Ganser, Lynn (Don) Rosenau, Joy Mattison, DeeAnn (Dean) Benke, Janna (Scott) Morcomb, Roger (Jodi) Schumacher, Richard (Penny) Schumacher; uncle, Donald (Nancy) Gensmer; Aunts, Helen Schumacher, and Dixie Maus; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Ray, and Florence; brother, Ronald Schumacher; and brother-in-law, Rick Mattison.

Sharon will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She loved her church family, church choir, and most of all her family and very special grandchildren. Sharon was an LPN in pediatrics for over 20 years. She also served as an organist for her church for over 60 years. She played her first full church service at the age of 12. Because of Sharon’s love for music, Gib purchased a harp for Sharon as a Christmas gift one year. She taught herself to play and enjoyed playing for many years.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 4-7 at Hoff Celebration of life Center (3480 Service Dr. Goodview, MN). A memorial service will be held at Our Savior’s Moravian Church (37 Chapel Dr NW, Altura, MN) at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, officiated by Pastor Jodi Heim, with a visitation before service from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Sharon will be laid to rest at Hebron Moravian Cemetery immediately following the service.
