Lenexa, Kansas - Robert A. Decker, age 96, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at Lakeview Village in Lenexa, Kansas.

Visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Lenexa, KS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, at the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Safehome or to Kansas City Hospice.

Robert was born in Beloit, Kansas, and grew up in the small-town community of Sylvan Grove, Kansas, an upbringing that shaped his lifelong values of hard work, integrity, and practicality. Throughout his life, he lived in many small towns, appreciating the close-knit communities and steady rhythms they offered.

Following high school, Robert proudly served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. His service reflected the sense of duty and responsibility that would define the rest of his life.

Robert earned his degree from Kansas State University, where he developed a deep and lasting loyalty to his alma mater. A die-hard Wildcat, he rarely missed the opportunity to watch Kansas State football and cheer on his team.

Professionally, Robert built a respected career as a Certified Public Accountant, working in both Kansas and Colorado. Later, he served as a bank examiner, where his strong ethics, logical mind, and meticulous attention to detail were highly valued. He was known as a man of principle-fair, thoughtful, and unwavering in doing what was right.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Decker, whom he deeply missed and spoke of often. He took comfort in the belief that they would be reunited, and he looked forward to seeing her again.

He is survived by his two daughters, Cathy, a retired elementary school teacher, and Jennifer, a middle school teacher. He was proud of their dedication to education and the positive impact they had on countless students.

Robert will be remembered for his quiet strength, sharp mind, ethical compass, and steadfast love for his family. His life was one of service, consistency, and devotion-to his country, his profession, his school, and those he loved. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
