On Monday, October 6, 2025, our Lord took a beautiful soul home to Heaven. Sharon Palazzo Geil, lovingly nicknamed Nanne was born on November 30, 1947, in Gulfport, Mississippi to her parents, Joseph Palazzo and Helen Sallis.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Lee Geil, Sr., her brother, Richard Palazzo of Gulfport, Mississippi and sister, Patricia Kirkpatrick of Duluth, Georgia.
Sharon was blessed with 58 years of marriage to her husband, Don. Together they had two children: Don Jr of Gulfport and his wife, Christy; and Lance Geil of Gulfport. Through their children came 6 grandchildren: Thomas Geil of New Orleans, Louisiana and his wife, Jessica; Chelsea Yarbrough of Gulfport and her husband, Matthew; Gunner Geil of Nashville, Tennessee; Mackenzi Geil of D’Iberville and Jacob Nitkiewicz, Adyson Geil and Blakelee Geil, both of Gulfport; their great-grandchildren: Skylynn Yarbrough, Emersyn Nitkiwewicz, Charley Yarbrough, Beckham Geil and Bennett Geil; her niece, Brandi Palazzo, and her wife, Jennifer of Gulfport.
Sharon was a 1965 graduate of Gulfport High School. She retired from Gulfport School District after over 25 years as a records clerk. Her greatest accomplishment was becoming an active grandmother in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives.
Visitation for friends and family will be on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Gulfhaven Mennonite Church, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of The Claiborne Senior Living Center in Gulfport, MS for their compassionate care during these difficult times.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorial offerings be made to the Gulfhaven Mennonite Church, 21497 Mennonite Road, Gulfport.
