William Geil, 87, of Iowa Falls, passed away Friday, September 26, 2025 at Scenic Manor. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls with visitation one hour prior. Bill will be laid to rest at the Union Cemetery following the service. Woodley Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is caring for Bill and his family. Bill was born May 20,1938 in Esterville, Iowa to Zelma and Holger Geil. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, known for a quick smile, silly jokes and an infectious laugh. Willy graduated from Greene High School in Greene Iowa in 1956. After working with his father at The Creamery in Greene, he enlisted in the Marines where he was stationed in Japan as a Corporal, earning commendations in Marksmanship and Conduct. Upon returning to Iowa in 1959 he pursued a career in Retail Management throughout Iowa, primarily for Harrison's Variety Stores where he eventually met his wife, Joan Carla (Hansen) Geil in Iowa Falls. Bill was active in the United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School Leader of the Christian Action Class and a valued Volunteer and Dishwasher-supreme for the Methodist Church's Wednesday Night Meal, and a member of the choir. Bill was an avid WWII and Civil War buff. He loved Glen Miller music as well as the songs of The Gaithers. He was above all else dedicated to his family. Bill is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Christopher and Todd; grandsons: Eric, Matthew, Jaron, Alec, Wesley, Christian and Zachary; great grandchildren, Jasper and Hazel; daughter-in-law, Amy; granddaughter-in-law, Ciara as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, father and son, Eric.
