Sharon Cecilia Gilroy Brown

Sharon Cecilia Gilroy Brown, 70, of Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025. Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, Sharon was the daughter of the late John and Virginia Gilroy, and the beloved sister of the late Ann Wells and Patrick Gilroy.
Sharon was a proud graduate of Saint Maria Goretti Catholic High School and earned her degree in psychology from Notre Dame of Maryland University. She dedicated her career to working with special needs adults, offering unwavering compassion, insight, and care to all those she served.
She is survived by her sons, Joshua Terry Brown (Alicia) and Matthew Curtis Brown (Samantha), and her cherished grandson, Levi James Brown. Sharon also embraced and loved her extended blended family: stepdaughters Terra Rowe (husband Larry, son Branden), Renee Brown (children Carson and Emma), Tonya Brown (daughters Halee and Freya), and Cheryl Brown (husband Will; children Veronica, Gracie, and Parker). She is also remembered by her former husband, Terry Brown.
Sharon is survived by several beloved nieces and nephews: Scott Poffenberger and Jennie Ridgely (children of her late sister Ann Wells), and Brennan Gilroy Finnegan, Shannon Doran, and Erin Darcy Kissinger (daughters of her late brother Patrick Gilroy). Each held a special place in her heart.
Known for her sharp wit and strong will, Sharon approached life with both determination and humor. She was never afraid to speak her mind and stood fiercely for what she believed in-qualities that made her a force of strength and comfort to those around her.
A lover of mystery novels-especially Agatha Christie-British television, and a perfectly cooked steak, Sharon was also a devoted mother above all. Her sons were her pride and joy, and she never missed a chance to support or brag about them.
She gave monthly to St. Jude's Children's Hospital for decades, living out her belief in giving back and helping others.
